Brooklyn-based Stronger Snacks’ protein chocolate bites come with an unauthorized kosher certification and are not Chorov Isroel, STAR-K distributors warned.full text

It was too good to be true…
COLlive.com readers recently saw a line of delicious-looking, unfamiliar protein products using the acclaimed Heckscher.
These included Protein Chocolate Peanuts, Protein Chocolate Rainbow Drops, Protein Chocolate Crunch, and Protein Chocolate Pretzel Bites by Stronger Snacks, a company based in Brooklyn, NY.
These snacks, with the Star-K symbol, were sold at petrol stations frequented by Fulham Jews summering in the Catskill Mountains. This station proudly carries Kosher products.
But when I checked the ingredients, something seemed off. “It contained both milk chocolate and whey protein isolate,” he said, not usually available as Cholov Isroel, even in protein bars sold in Israel.
When I contacted the Baltimore-based Star-K agency, Rabbi, the manager of the rabbi, Moshe Heinemannreplied, “Stronger Snacks has unauthorized Star-K on it, not Chorov Isroel.”
The agency then issued the following warning: “Stronger Snacks products bear the unauthorized STAR-K mark. Stronger Snacks is not STAR-K certified. Their products are sold at gas stations in the New York area.” Corrective action is being taken.”
rabbi Zvi Goldberg A Star-K official said: “We are working on this issue and New York state police are investigating the case. The fact that it is still on the market is a problem.”
On the Stronger Snacks website, products are displayed with the Star-D symbol, a division of Star-K that only certifies dairy products that are Cholovstam. Cholov Isroel is produced under the direct supervision of dairy products. Whereas Jews do throughout the entire milking and processing process, Cholov Sutam (or Cholov Nokri) does not.
