Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to develop a policy aimed at providing regular examinations, diagnostics and medical care for the elderly.
Representatives from PMC officials, health authorities and seniors’ organizations met on Monday to discuss future policies and benefits.
PMC Deputy Health Officer Dr Kalpana Baliwant said the meeting was held as directed by Maharashtra CM. “Representatives of the elderly group met with CM Eknas Shinde last month to discuss the issues facing them. Instructions were then issued and a meeting was held. At this meeting, it was decided to conduct free health checks for all citizens twice a year. The PMC will also issue Ayushman Bharat Health Cards to all citizens.”
According to members of the senior citizens’ association, the city has a very large elderly population and requires a tenacious medical policy to ensure timely health checks.
Dr Bhagwan Pawar, Health Officer of PMC, said, “It was decided to provide free testing and treatment facilities. It is.”
