WACO, Texas (KWTX) – Several local doctors have a new way of looking at health and medicine called patient-first direct primary care.

It’s no secret that doctors are busy, so patients are generally accustomed to short interactions with their doctors. After working in the field for more than 20 years, Dr. Roberts wanted to reimagine health care to be easily accessible and to build personal relationships with patients.
“When we don’t have time, we want to know what kids are doing and what their interests are. This model allows patients to text us or call us. Our focus is on the convenience of being able to access our services and directly access us,” says Dr. Roberts.
Appointments are one-on-one with a doctor and last from 30 minutes to an hour. Patient First Direct Primary Care in Waco also offers monthly subscriptions ranging from $50 to about $150, depending on age.
It helps provide access to health care and insurance for people such as small business owners and the uninsured.
“We offer a complimentary consultation to see if this monthly subscription is right for you,” explains Dr. Roberts. “The tradition is deep-rooted in us, the tradition of insurance-based medicine, but it’s hard for people to understand this. People say it can’t be true given the cost. Masu.”
They founded about a year ago and are already seeing their vision working for patients and are hoping this is just the beginning.
“It’s been a great way to practice for me because I get to truly get to know my patients,” says Dr. Roberts.
