A personal trainer has revealed which workout exercise she would choose if she had to choose just one workout for ‘the rest of her life’. Online coach Holly Jackson frequently shares gym-related tips and tricks with her 23,000 followers on TikTok.

The internet personality said she wants to help those who watch her “grow” in and out of the gym, emphasizing that education leads to empowerment. In a recent video shared online, Holly revealed that her go-to exercise is the trusty conventional deadlift.

This TikToker said, “Traditional deadlifts are a great exercise for your posterior chain and lower body, and are perfect for your daily workout because you never know when you’ll need to lift something heavy.”

The coach said I would need a barbell with bumper plates to do this exercise. She said plates are important for keeping the barbell at a consistent height, but that’s not the case if you choose a smaller plate. Holly said she recommends starting with the barbell at about mid-shin height.

Holly’s 5-step plan for the perfect deadlift

  • The bar should be placed mid-foot with your feet hip-width apart and parallel. She said that if you look down, the bar should cut your foot in half on the laces.
  • Your arms should be as long as possible when gripping the bar. To do this, you need to spread the group shoulder-width apart and relax your arms.
  • Your shins should be touching the bar so that when you drop your hips are in the best position for you and your proportions are optimal.
  • When lifting, you need to squeeze your chest at the same time.
  • Once you are in a tight position, you should focus on pushing with your legs instead of pulling with your body.

Holly said: “We’ve worked hard to get into this position so we don’t want to rush and jeopardize it. We need to loosen the bar off the floor by pushing the world away, so to speak.” . The fitness enthusiast posts videos every Friday on her TikTok account @hollyemilyjackson.
