Pennsylvania firearm purchase denials down in 2023

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (WHTM) — The Pennsylvania State Police announced the number of firearm denials and investigations for the first quarter of 2023.

The Pennsylvania Instant Check System, also known as PICS, helps law enforcement and firearms dealers determine the legal ability of an individual to be licensed to carry a firearm or to acquire a firearm by purchase or transfer. Use for


If a person provides false information on a state or federal form, an investigation will be initiated and a referral will be sent to law enforcement.

Considered Class 3 in Pennsylvania and contains false information, whether verbal or written, on federal or state agency forms, or capable of deceiving a seller, licensed distributor, or licensed manufacturer knowingly presenting potentially false identification.
