Governor Jared Polis expressed support for the development.
“Colorado is eliminating red tape and making it easier for workers to access support when they need it most,” Polis said. “Coloradoans need quality resources and insurance plans that meet their needs and give them the flexibility to care for themselves and their families without leaving the workforce permanently.”
The FAMLI department has been actively collecting premiums and wage reports since the beginning of 2023 in preparation for next year’s benefit payments. The program aims to expand access to paid leave for workers who have experienced life-changing events.
Tracy Marshall, a registered nurse for over 25 years and a board-certified case manager and disability management specialist, will lead the new FAMLI department. Marshall has overseen the development of the My FAMLI+ portal with the goal of improving the patient experience while minimizing administrative burden for healthcare providers.
“Nobody goes into healthcare because they like doing a lot of paperwork,” says Marshall. “We are proud that our portal can support workers in Colorado without being a drag on busy healthcare providers.”
