The use of Ozempic for weight loss has been controversial among Hollywood stars, but experts have warned about the effects of rapid weight loss.
The use of Ozempic for weight loss is becoming increasingly popular in showbiz.
Sharon Osbourne and Amy Schumer have among others admitted to using the drug to lose weight, even though it is only indicated for the treatment of adults with diabetes and type 2 diabetes that is not well controlled, as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
Now, as its use continues to increase, experts are sharing their concerns about “Ozempic face” and urging people to think about the aftereffects of wanting such rapid weight loss.
Susan Brenner of California’s Premier Medical Spa Revive Med Spaexplained what kind of problems such a sudden loss can cause. She said:[It can] This results in sagging skin, which loses firmness, elasticity and texture, making you look older and haggard, especially in the face.In fact, the term “Ozempic face” has become popular to address loss of facial volume and sagging skin.
She explained that for those who have already experienced weight loss, the best way to address volume loss is to undergo procedures that lift, improve sagging and stimulate collagen and elastin production.
“When it comes to the face, the changes caused by rapid weight loss are best treated with a two-pronged approach: one, skin tightening and two, volume replacement,” she adds.
Sharon Osbourne revealed that she lost 42 pounds while taking the drug, and admitted that it made her “nauseous.” She said, “I don’t get nauseous anymore, but when I take it, I don’t feel hungry, I don’t eat. It doesn’t get talked about a lot, but it can clog up your intestines. I’ve been off it for about three or four months. My weight has stabilized. I’m down to about 97 pounds.” [6st 13lb] And I thought, ‘Oh man, this is tough.’ I needed to put some weight back on, so I did.”
Apart from Ozempic’s warning, Susan also said that there are some common mistakes celebrities make when it comes to filler injections: “While fillers can produce great results when injected by a trained professional, common mistakes can lead to unwanted outcomes, especially for celebrities who are constantly in the public eye,” she said.
She went on to list three risks that should always be avoided: “Choosing the wrong doctor, not allowing recovery time, and ignoring facial balance.”
