March’s Pixel Feature Drop isn’t just about Google’s phones, but more specifically the original Pixel Watch. Google adds his four big fitness features to the original features that first appeared on Pixel Watch 2.
Here are four new features coming to the original Pixel Watch: pace training, heart zone training, automatic training modeand the release of Fitbit Relax app. Again, these are all things that were on the Pixel Watch 2, so this is an enhancement rather than a big platform update for Google’s Watch. Still, I like seeing the original catch up, especially as the hardware gets older.
Pixel Watch Pace Training: Google describes paced training as allowing you to set a target pace during your workout and know when you’re within your goal, thanks to GPS and power-optimized motion sensors. If you fail to reach your goal, a notification will appear on your watch screen. All of these will help you achieve your training goals.
Pixel Watch Heart Zone Training: This heart zone training is similar to pace training, except you can see which heart rate zones you spend time in during your exercise. Similar to pace training, you can set reminders to stay in a certain zone. And here’s my personal tip – always train in zone 2.
Pixel Watch Auto Workout Mode: The first-generation Pixel Watch also has automatic workout tracking, so if you forget to start or stop a workout, you should be able to retrieve and record it. This is done by running, walking, elliptical, spinning, outdoor biking, treadmill, and rowing.
Relax app on Pixel Watch: And finally, we’d like to introduce you to the new Fitbit Relax app. Google hopes the app will guide you through breathing techniques to help you better manage moments of calm and mindfulness throughout your day. You may have seen this popup at some point in the original Watch, but it probably didn’t work. You should do that now.
Those are the March feature drops for Pixel Watch. We know that Pixel Watch 2 owners will be disappointed with this product, and rightly so. It was a month filled with love for the original work.
This old method of checking for system updates on your Pixel Watch model should still work. To update the app, visit the Google Play Store on your watch. The build number to be aware of is TWD9.240205.001.A3.
