Harrisonburg, Virginia (WHSV) – The Little Grill Part of the Harrisonburg community for decades It has played a major role in Harrisonburg’s local music scene. Old Crow Medicine Show frontman and his Ketch Secor from Harrisonburg started performing there.
September 13, Harrisonburg’s Little Grill Collective has announced that it can no longer operate in its current form. Temporarily closed to find a solution.
“As a musician, I am so grateful to Little Grill for creating a stage for the local talent of the Shenandoah Valley. ,” said Secor.
Secor credits Little Grill for bringing people together and providing a place for people of all backgrounds to come together, play and enjoy music.
“Young people, old people and people from all over the community who share their instruments and songs. I applaud Grill for creating an environment in which music can thrive,” said Secor.
Secor said Little Grill played a big part in his early years as a musician.
“When I was a kid in Harrisonburg in the 80s and early 90s, there weren’t many opportunities for people like me to hone their craft. It was also a place to interact with,” he said.
Secor said he has fond memories of grilling with his friend Critter Fuqua, a Harrisonburg native and former member of the Old Crow Medicine Show.
“When Critter and I showed up at The Grill, we were washing dishes and hanging out all day drinking coffee. The cast of characters was such a beautiful spectrum of humanity.
Seko is saddened to learn that The Little Grill faces an uncertain future and wants to remain open for as long as possible.
“It breaks my heart to think of Harrisonburg without The Little Grill. I sincerely hope that the Rockingham County community will help us not have to let this longtime dream come to an end.” he said.
WHSV reached out to the Little Grill employee-owners for comment on Monday.
They said they are meeting with advisers this week to come up with a plan for how to move forward, but cannot provide further comment until the plan is finalized.
