OGDEN — The Ogden School District has opened a new facility to serve the community in a variety of ways.
The Child Nutrition Program building at 1950 Monroe Blvd. — At the district's administrative campuses — the district will be able to purchase and store more dry and frozen goods while eliminating reliance on off-site food storage.
This facility provides a central location for all child nutrition staff to receive training in commercial grade kitchen space. It also gives Ogden School District students the opportunity to gain the experience they need to work for local businesses.
The facility will also further expand the district's programs for students with special needs.
“Cooking has become an integral part of Ogden's programs for students with disabilities,” Karen Harrop, the district's special education program director, said in a statement. “This is an effective and motivating way for students to develop many skills that will be useful throughout their lives.
