Nutrition influencer criticized for simple act in his video

Influencers and nutritionists have been criticized for being a simple act most of us do without a second thought.

British nutrition coach, speaker and podcast host Ben Coover shares a video showing him preparing a healthy breakfast for his young children and doing the same for others I would like to encourage you to

The video has gotten a lot of attention, with over 10 million views and thousands of comments.

“This is the porridge recipe I made for my daughter,” Ben wrote in a post that accompanied the video.

“I’ve been giving this to her since she was 1 and she loves it. It’s nutritious, healthy fats, low in sugar, with a variety of fruits, nuts, seeds and natural flavors. Pea milk also provides good quality protein that many children’s breakfasts lack.”

Most of his followers liked his recipes, but some claimed they were flawed.

In the video, we saw them prepare a delicious breakfast, but what happened just before serving it raised some eyebrows. He put it in the microwave.

A culinary sin, according to some.

One commenter wrote: I really don’t understand why you put it in the microwave? It takes all the nutrition out of food!

Ben replied: If that’s true (and I know research shows otherwise), why aren’t my children and many other children severely malnourished and suffering from such problems? “

Another person made the same point. Poor child. “

A third said, “When you mix ‘healthy ingredients’ and put them in the microwave…”

Plus, “nice breakfast, but put it in the microwave and it’s ruined!”

When Ben asked the commentator why she messed up, she replied:

There were many other criticisms. “It may not radiate nutrients (sic), but I am giving it to her daughter as well.”

And, “A nutritionist who microwaves things. It’s the first time.”

“Poor child,” wrote another.

So is it true that microwaving food destroys nutrients?

it’s a myth. According to Anthony L. Komaroff, MD Editor-in-chief of the Harvard Health Letter.

“In fact, microwave cooking is one of the least nutritious cooking methods,” says Dr. Lomaroff.

“This is because the longer you cook food, the more nutrients tend to break down, and microwave cooking takes less time.

“Cooking a roast in the oven is more likely to result in a loss of nutrients than cooking the roast in the microwave. , the vegetables are more likely to be deprived of nutrients.

“This is because some nutrients leach out of the food and into the water.

in the meantime, Most reports state that microwaved food “It’s at least as nutritious as an equivalent food cooked in a conventional way.”
