Norwalk health officials install free medicine in vending machine for opioid overdoses

Huron County, Ohio (WJW) — Huron County Public Health Health officials say the company is trying to reduce the number of deaths from opioid overdoses by offering free medicine through vending machines.


The government agency set up a vending machine where people could buy for free. naloxonea drug that can save lives by reversing the effects of heroin, fentanyl, and other opioid overdoses.

The first vending machine was installed outdoors Huron County Public Health Headquarters at 28 Executive Drive, Norwalk.

Health officials say the purpose of the vending machine is to “substantially reduce opioid-related overdose deaths by increasing the distribution of free naloxone and to increase safer prescriptions of opioids.” Stated.

The vending machines will also offer free fentanyl test strips, COVID-19 tests and condoms, and will be available 24 hours a day, health officials said.
