Amid concerns over worsening air quality, the Delhi government on Saturday issued an advisory advising citizens to avoid morning walks and other forms of exercise in view of the health emergency. The advisory also emphasized that pregnant women, patients with underlying health conditions, children and the elderly should act with caution and avoid exposure to air pollution.

The Delhi Health Department added that to avoid exposure, people should “avoid areas with high air pollution such as slow-moving and busy roads, areas near polluting industries, and construction/demolition sites.”

The advisory also states that people should avoid physical exercise such as outdoor walks, jogging, and running in the morning and evening, “particularly on days when AQI is severe.”
