An unnamed NFL player reportedly lost millions in gambling last season.
sports gambling Breaking into NFL locker rooms has become a growing problem for the league, with several players receiving lengthy suspensions.
Players are not permitted to bet on anything not related to the NFL and may not bet anything while on team property. According to CBS Sports, players are allowed to bet on sports other than the NFL if they are not on the team’s property.
NFL players reportedly lost millions of dollars in gambling last season.
Well, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio reported that an unnamed NFL player lost $8 million to gambling. Florio provided no evidence and did not specify whether the $8 million loss was due to sports betting or table games.
The exact sentence in his report reads, “One NFL player last lost $8 million, according to league sources familiar with the situation.” [sic] Through gambling in 2022. ”
what are you betting on? Do you ever gamble and break the rules in the NFL? Bet on other sports? Hit the table? It’s good to know.
Be very skeptical of this claim.
There are several alarming points about Mr. Florio’s claim. First, anyone who lost $8 million definitely gambled more along the way.
It is statistically nearly impossible for someone who puts $8 million in sports bets to lose it all when spread out. So this unknown player could easily have gambled over $10 million.
Then this player would be a whale by any standard in the world of legal gambling. Whales are known to all casino companies and are treated like royalty. It is very difficult to keep a player’s identity a secret.
NFL gambling claims require some evidence.
If it were table gambling instead of sports gambling (which is definitely not against the rules), the unknown player would be an even bigger whale. People in the gambling industry speak. I know who is throwing the money away. Especially if the person is famous.
However, Mike Florio has made this claim without providing any supporting evidence, and there is no other information floating around about the unknown.
Another option is to bet under the table and stay off the books. If that’s true, then the player is an idiot, which is unlikely. Gambling millions of dollars outside of regulated casinos is very stupid.
Florio may indeed be telling the truth. It’s certainly possible that an unnamed player lost $8 million last season. However, it’s easier to access the nuclear code than to keep the player’s identity a secret. If he was so bad at picking winners and losers, casinos would be drooling over his moves. Be extremely skeptical of this claim until some concrete evidence is provided.
