A new ‘miracle’ weight loss drug has arrived in Spain, allowing patients to lose up to 24kg while avoiding Ozempic’s hefty €271 price tag.
After the Ozempic epidemic spread across Spain, it was only natural that competing and alternative products would emerge.
Now, pharmaceutical brand Lilly is set to launch a new weight loss drug.

Tirze Patida, known commercially as Munjaro, is expected to be launched in July.
Munjaro, an injectable drug given once a week, is available by prescription only and is provided free of charge to patients.
This new drug has shown amazing results in clinical trials, with patients’ weight, quality of life, and vitamin and mineral levels restored to levels before treatment after 72 weeks.

According to Lilly, this is due to the drug’s multiple mechanism of action, which acts on different organs simultaneously.
It binds to insulin receptors in the pancreas, brain, heart, veins, intestines, liver and fat cells, making it suitable for people with type 2 diabetes and obesity.
A reduced calorie diet combined with increased exercise is recommended to lose weight and maintain the weight lost.
However, it is not recommended for people with a history of thyroid cancer or pancreatitis.
