The Great Bend Recreation Commission has refreshed its fitness classes for 2023. While yoga, tai chi, and some of our other popular cardio sessions remain available, indoor cycling and suspension training classes are attracting new and different customers.
Megan Hammeke, Marketing Director of Great Bend Rec, says the stationary bike spin classes attract participants of all ages, but especially those in their 30s. .
“The cycling class definitely brought in another group,” said Hammeke. “The 9 o’clock class is starting to fill up with our pickleball group, people who are retired and have space. Our cycling class has a daughter’s wedding. There’s a new woman who’s joining because she wants to get in shape for it.
A bar was recently installed for suspension classes on one wall of the gym at the Great Bend Activity Center on 18th Street. Suspension fitness uses straps to perform the same exercises as free weights using your own body weight.
