Greenfield — The former welding wing off US 40 is now being renovated to offer CrossFit to the Greenfield community.
Co-owners of the new Sugar Creek CrossFit, Robbie Williams and Christine Cooper, are both passionate about CrossFit and working out. Both thought his 3599 West US 40 in Greenfield would be a good place.
Williams said he had been thinking about the idea of opening their own facility for several months, and after considering several other locations that didn’t work out or didn’t feel right, he finally decided to open the facility. found a former welding facility that seemed to be the best choice for CrossFit.
“Especially CrossFit is not just about training.
The building consists of a front area with offices and a recovery room, and a central area with Rogue Fitness gym equipment and weight training, allowing you to work at your own pace. Further back is where CrossFit takes place and classes are offered.
While some class ideas are still being worked out, Williams said the company will offer traditional classes, weightlifting classes, introductory classes for beginners, and will eventually add more based on community needs. said.
Personal training and nutrition training are also added for an additional fee.
For members, it will offer a traditional membership, but will also add the option to access the gym 24/7 for training, even outside normal business hours. It also offers a membership that does not include classes, just free workouts and his 1-day pass.
Membership pricing is still to be determined.
Williams said the new business is a fitness center, so no major construction is needed. So far, they’re cleaning the place up, removing anything left by the previous owner before moving on to the next step. Williams said he plans to start painting the facility this weekend and lay down new flooring in the next week or two.
Williams said workouts can be tailored to individual fitness levels. Ultimately, the workouts are posted to the gym every day, so people can work out on schedule or scale it down for injuries, needs, etc.
“This will be very helpful for people looking to try CrossFit, the traditional CrossFit experience. And hopefully it will be a big community thing that the community can come in and participate in,” Williams said.
Once open, Williams plans to offer free community events about once or twice a month, perhaps with the idea of bringing friends or allowing the general public to experience and try CrossFit. said there is.
“I think it’s going to be a huge benefit for the community as a whole, for people who want to try it. I think there are a lot of people who want to try it but are a little bit afraid to try it,” Williams said. . “I think people are intimidated when they hear CrossFit, but I think it’s really about the community, and when people try it, they realize it’s a good impetus. “
They’re still assembling the building and putting the finishing touches on it, but they hope to open sometime in October.
Pre-sale for members will start soon, and the first 30 people who register will receive a swag bag. Additional apparel can be purchased later.
