“Here’s what was said and said in the hangouts of Hero Haven,” says mentor and DeWitt Fire Chief Bob Sandry.
DeWitt, Iowa — A local volunteer group held an open house on Sunday, November 13, to educate first responders about mental health services.
DeWitt-based Hero Haven is a volunteer organization that hosts monthly sessions for first responders to discuss work and life issues.
This group holds sessions on the third Tuesday of each month. Bob Sandry, Hero Haven’s mentor and DeWitt Fire Chief, said the session was a safe place to talk about concerns.
“Everything that’s been said or spoken in the hangouts of Hero Haven, stays here,” says Sandry.
Hero Haven is in its second season and is located next to Sandry Fire Supply on 6th Avenue in DeWitt. Support crew Justin Butt said he always had someone to talk to.
“The only appointment you have to make is if you want to meet with someone outside of our normal meeting hours,” Batt said. please give me.”
Bhatt also said he has personally benefited from the group’s services.
“It’s been great to be able to talk about the personal issues I’ve been through in my life with people who understand what we’ve gone through before.
Service is free.
Bob Sandry said anyone, with the exception of first responders, can contact Hero Haven about mental health issues by calling the Sandry Fire Supply. Please contact. Click here for the contact page.
