Nawazuddin Siddiqui again says ‘nobody has depression in villages’; Gulshan Devaiah responds, ‘Wouldn’t take him seriously’

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqi did not budge when asked if he really meant to say that depression is an urban concept.

actor Nawazuddin Siddikiplayed a psychotic serial killer in the film Raman Raghab 2.0, further emphasized recent comments that depression and mental health are “non-existent” in rural areas. He said such problems were an urban concept, and went on to say that if he claimed to be depressed in his native village, he would be beaten.

He was asked about his controversial comments in a new interview with NDTV. In Hindi, the actor said, “I was just telling my experience. I could be wrong. But even now, if you go to a village just three hours away and say ‘depression’, you get slapped.” will They told me to eat and go to the fields. When asked if he meant that people in rural areas were unaware of these conversations, instead of claiming that mental health problems did not exist, the actor replied: No one knows about it, no one has depression in the village. Nawaz continued without providing any medical evidence. “In cities, people have a habit of glamorizing even the smallest problems. Why don’t they see how people with real problems live? In the rain, Look at them dancing on the pavement, how come they don’t get depressed?”

In response to Nawaz’s latest comments, actor Gulshan Devaiah wrote on Twitter, “Dhritarashtra and Gandhari Syndrome. If you look at alcoholism and addiction alone, it exists in rural communities, and it is a mental illness. Yes, the real problem is the trauma they can’t heal.”

Nawaz made his initial comments in an interview with Mashable India. He said, “I come from an environment where if you tell your dad that you’re feeling down, he’ll give you a slap in the face…” depression waha nahi ta, kishi ko bi nahi hota waha depression, sub kush hai (In the village no one is depressed and everyone is happy). But since coming to this city, I have learned about anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder. ”

The actor is currently promoting his new movie Jogira Sala La La. He recently appeared in ‘Afwaah’ and is best known for ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and ‘Sacred Games’.
