HERSHEY, PA — Pediatrician Dr. Abigail Myers was featured in the Penn State University School of Medicine’s Special Moments in Education program in September.
“Dr. Myers is the best facilitator,” wrote a current student. “I especially liked the way she gave group feedback because I could hear criticism from my teammates. She also researched the material beforehand and it shows. They take their education seriously, but they are very cheerful and funny.
Myers is from Hershey. She earned her medical degree from Temple University’s Louis Katz School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed a pediatric residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. After she practiced privately for two years, Myers returned to Hershey, where she joined the Pennsylvania State Department of Health and Pediatrics. There she is her primary care physician teaching a pediatric resident and her freshman and her junior medical students.
As an Assistant Professor at Pennsylvania State College of Medicine, Myers has worked with preclinical medical students and has served as a Problem-Based Learning Master Facilitator, Social Advisor Coach, and Director of Gastroenterology/Nutrition Courses. Although her three young sons keep her busy, she is an avid reader, tries to join as many book clubs as possible, and can count on book recommendations when teaching. She also enjoys playing tennis and watching all the sports her sons participate in.
