ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) — Monroe County Mayor Adam Bello says a new public health mission aimed at improving access to crisis response services will save lives.
The Monroe Mental Health app provides users with health-related information, including direct access to emergency contacts, the location of nearby support services, and suicide prevention information.
“More and more people know or love someone who is facing mental illness, addiction or other personal crises,” Bello said. “When these issues arise, there’s no time to waste, and it all starts here. I’m here to tell you right now that this app will save lives.”

“The new app brings together a variety of services in one place, including immediate crisis services, community programs for behavioral health, direct access to job assistance, respite, family support, self-help and more,” Bello explained.
The application is available for download on Apple and Android devices.
“There are so many young people who have cell phones,” Monroe County Mental Health Director April Aycock said. “Knowing that there’s an app and they just have to access it can be a helpful resource not only for them, but for their friends and family members who are struggling.”
The app can connect users in crisis with trained counselors 24/7.
“Whether it’s complex issues or simple everyday issues we all experience like anxiety or depression, our app puts people at their fingertips to connect with people who can help them with the help and support they need,” said Jen Lake, the company’s president and CEO.
