Brazilian MMA champion Mackenzie Dern’s whole fitness (and fighting!) philosophy seems to be “never give up.” The 30-year-old UFC strawweight fighter shared a photo of herself looking sweaty and proud in black leggings and a blue sports bra. “When you put in the work, you become unstoppable. Dern loves riding his bike outdoors in his down time, and it’s a great way to enjoy some fresh air. “Cycling is one of the healthiest, lowest-impact forms of exercise, meaning it’s less taxing and injury-prone than most other forms of training.” University of Montana experts say. “In other words, it’s a hobby that you can continue to enjoy throughout your life.”
Dern’s method of preparing for the UFC was even more intense than his previous martial arts training. “One of the things I had to change was my Muay Thai training sessions, where I only did kicks and punches to sharpen my strikes.” she told Gracie Mag. “I also started doing extra sessions of cardio to keep my weight down from what I was maintaining with BJJ. [Brazilian jiu-jitsu]. The stamina to continue fighting there for 15 or 25 minutes is a little different. There is no way to rest during a battle, the only option is to sit on a chair during a break. ”
After Dern welcomed her daughter in June 2019, she focused on building up her physical fitness. She “didn’t train at all while pregnant” she said women’s health. “I wanted to take advantage of these nine months and enjoy some time off with my growing family. Dern struggled to stay in shape after giving birth to her daughter, but with intense training she quickly regained her shape. She said, “I was a little nervous because it was her first match after giving birth.” she said women’s health. “In the end, this was my first loss. I was undefeated up until that point. I lost some sponsors as well, but that just motivated me. To get my muscle back and reach my goals, I started using boxing and strength training. I doubled down on my training.”
