Microplastics in placentas linked to premature births, study suggests | Plastics

An analysis using high -sensitivity mass spectrometics found a 203 micrograph plastic per early placenta tissue (µg/g). This is more than 50 % higher than 130 µg/g of the entire period.

Twelve plastic plastic is detected and used in plastic bottles, PVCs, polyurethane, polycarbonate, and there is the most significant difference between a complete birth placenta and a premature birth placenta.

Some mothers have higher risk of premature birth due to age, ethnicity and social status. However, even if these factors were considered, there were plastic particles and a strong link for premature birth.

“This study showed a relevance, not a causal relationship,” said Barozo. “However, I think it is important to increase the relationship between people’s perception of microplastics and potential human health.”

He said that the effectiveness of the action to reduce the exposure of people to micro plastic also needed urgent research. “These interventions need to be researched to show that these plastic has the advantage of avoiding these plastic.”
