A Meriden woman was arrested Tuesday and charged with charging Medicaid for personal care services “beyond what she provided,” state officials said.

Kenisha T. Swain, 43, was arrested by an inspector from the Supreme State Attorney’s Office’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. State officials say she has one count of her each charged with health insurance fraud and first-degree theft for defrauding a public entity.

Citing an affidavit in the arrest warrant, authorities said Swain “filed a timesheet for personal care assistant services that were not performed” from Jan. 11 to Nov. 13, 2021. It worked, state officials said in a statement.

Through timesheets, Swain allegedly stole $9,144.69 from the Medicaid program.

Swain has been released on $20,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court in Hartford on December 13.
