Stanton, Va. (WHSV) — Augusta’s Mental Health America took her to social media to inform residents about the suspension of its mental health services.
Mental Health of America is a nonprofit organization that helps people connect people with essential mental health resources before they get into crisis. The organization has been a staple food for the community, but after recent changes in leadership and fundraising, the organization said it is “no longer sustainable” to run normally. Bruce Blair, the organisation’s executive director, left the MHAA and went to another behavioral health group.
On social media, the MHAA has approved changes to staff as part of why it needs to be shut down. The post also mentioned “operational difficulties” but did not go into details. The organization acknowledged the importance of mental health resources and the people who helped the MHAA support the people in the Augusta area.
“We are proud of the positive impact we were able to make and the relationships we formed along the way,” reads the Facebook post.
The organization concluded the last obligation it had, saying people could call 540-423-8033 to inquire about the closing.
There are other mental health resources available to Saw Area people. Chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness Region and Volleyball Community Service Board.
