“We have been providing mobile services for the past five years, but this is the first time we have all of these services under one roof, creating a cleaner pathway for individuals to receive ongoing care. ,” said Diane Santoro, vice president of behavioral health.integration in Bay Cove Behavioral Health and Wellness Center.
Opening a new facility at 116 Camp St. on January 3, the center offers mobile crisis intervention, outpatient behavioral medicine, on-site crisis intervention and assessment, ongoing care and prescription medications, and treatment for opioid use disorders. offers drug therapy. both adults and young people.
By the summer, the nonprofit plans to move all services under one roof to a permanent location adjacent to Cape Cod Hospital.
“This initiative is focused on rebuilding access to community-based mental health services for all,” Santoro said.

Those who work at the center, who have experience with the system itself, provide support and resources to individuals and families as they navigate the complexities of the behavioral health system. Santoro said the main goal is to provide ongoing support to patients in crisis.
Temporary centers also provide referrals and help patients connect with other services in the community.
“It’s important not only to resolve the crisis, but also to get the help they need to receive ongoing treatment and support within their communities,” Santoro said.

Bay Cove Takes Over Mobile Crisis Response Operations from State Department of Mental Health
Parent organization Bay Cove Human Services previously operated a seven-bed facility in Hyannis, providing a mobile team for patients struggling with mental health issues. Bay Cove Human Services is a private, non-profit organization that took over mobile crisis response operations from the State Department of Mental Health in May 2017.
“In addition to traditional prescriptions and treatments, we offer companion recovery and (guidance for navigating the mental health care system),” Santoro said.
Cape Cod Healthcare will prescribe medications to the Bay Cove Crisis Stabilization Unit and Outpatient Clinic. Bay Cove also partners with Duffy Health Center with a dedicated referral channel for patients needing treatment for opioid use disorders.
After primary evaluation and evaluation, if a patient requires hospitalization or a safer environment, the center will work with Cape Cod Health Care to transfer the patient to an emergency department or safer facility.

The Crisis Stabilization Unit at Bay Cove, a seven-bed facility designed for short-term stays, was shut down following a fire in October. Santoro said he expects the facility to reopen by the end of March.
