The university, in partnership with Gurugram-based drone startup TechEagle, has successfully delivered 2 kg of tuberculosis drugs from its campus to a district hospital in Terry Garwal by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
Additional technical support was provided by the National Health Systems Resource Center (NHSRC).
TechEagle’s Vertiplane X3 was used in this trial to travel a distance of approximately 40 km between the two facilities in 30 minutes.
The trial aims to test the long-term feasibility of routine drone-based drug delivery operations in the region, with a particular focus on tuberculosis drugs.
India accounts for over a quarter of all tuberculosis cases worldwide. Such initiatives support the Indian government’s goal of eradicating the disease within its borders by 2025.
A similar trial was conducted in Arunachal Pradesh in August 2022.
