Called “continuously diverse, high-intensity functional movements,” CrossFit has become one of the most popular training models in the world. It has a range of fields, including gymnastics, weightlifting, exercises, weight exercises, indoor rowing, aerobic exercises, running, swimming, and now it is also a competitive sport with participants who compete in either or all of those fields with timing or measured routines.
And while she is the top 1 percent of the world’s crossfitters and is in one of Ireland’s main lights at this relatively new event, Marsal Lochford doesn’t follow the stereotypes you may have formed about the sport of her choice. From Cleariestown in Co Wexford, she is a co-founder of Yellowberry CrossFit and a woman who traveled to Europe, representing her country at international events.
