Many people train for months or even years to run a full 26.2 mile marathon.
But one marathon wasn’t enough for the Wade twins.
twin brother Henry and Will Wade, 30, decided to run seven marathons in seven days as a way to increase mental health awareness.

“Last year, unfortunately, Will’s house burned down unexpectedly. In fact, Will was at home at the time,” said Henry Wade.
“It was a complete sacrifice [on] myself, my mental health…and it was the first time in my life that i had some sort of experience big anxietypanic attacks, and a bit of PTSD,” Will Wade said of the dramatic loss of his home.
He said he dealt with those struggles by getting outside and running.
After seeing his brother struggle with running, Henry paired up with Will, and the brothers decided to partner with the charity Bedser to raise awareness of mental health issues.

Henry Wade said the brothers knew it would be difficult to complete seven marathons, but the difficulty was temporary for them.

“People with mental health problems, [who] They feel lonely all the time — they have these thoughts and feelings 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year,” he said.
“We torment ourselves a little bit for a few hours every day, but what they are going through is worse,” he said.

The brothers pointed out that the 4th and 5th days were the worst.

Still, their legs were swollen and their bodies exhausted, but the twins persevered and made it to the seventh day.
For the final marathon, the brothers went out in a blast — running the New York City 2022 Marathon.
“Doing them back to back…it was the dumbest thing ever.”
“It was emotional, like our energy came back out of nowhere,” Will Wade said.
The Wade twins said keeping themselves up mentally was the hardest part, as the marathon course, which spans five districts, brought climate and geographic challenges.
“Here’s where the mental issues arise, because you’re scraping yourself to your core. Your essence is your most vulnerable state,” Henry said.

The next morning, they celebrated their seventh marathon with a full American breakfast of pancakes, waffles, and more.
