Man’s Lung Collapses After Doing 20 Push-Ups And Skipping Rope

by Universalwellnesssystems

A man from Henan, China, recently decided to get healthy as part of his New Year’s resolution. To achieve his goal, he skipped the rope and began doing push-ups. That’s when things were grossly wrong.

According to Chinese media, the man did two sets of 10 push-ups and skipped ropes. He woke up the next morning and felt a serious heartache. He also had difficulty breathing and pain in his ribcage as he climbed the stairs.

He was in such pain and decided to seek medical assistance in the hospital.

It turned out to be the best decision he made.

The doctor discovered that the man had a hole in his lungs while exercising, leading him to partially collapse. At that time, one side of the male lung was so damaged that it had reduced to a third of its original size.

This condition is also known as pneumothorax, and occurs when air enters the thoracic cavity and causes pressure on the lungs.

His doctor said the man’s condition became more severe over time as increased pressure could cause irreversible damage and potentially life-threatening.

Thankfully, he sought treatment in time and is now recovering.

Many were shocked to learn that a man who appears to be very young had suffered such serious consequences from one session of a very intensive movement.

This is a good reminder to always listen to your body and not push yourself to the extreme when doing high-intensity workouts.

The 20 pushups aren’t accurate, but you know, right?
