The Tarrant County coroner’s office has identified the man who was killed early Sunday morning as Taylor Grimes.
Fort Worth Police say the man was heard saying when his mother called 911 late Saturday that he would hurt her if officers answered. Police said that when officers arrived, Grimes came to the door with a handgun, closed it, and refused to leave the house.
SWAT forces and hostage negotiators then arrived and tried to persuade Grimes to surrender and allow his mother to leave the house, police said.
When the mother finally left the house, Grimes stood in the doorway with a handgun pointed at the officer.
The coroner’s office said Grimes died in his living room.
