LIVONIA — An empty physical therapy office may soon be home to a large, upscale fitness center.
Storm Fitness in Dearborn Heights plans to relocate to 18340 Middlebelt Road between Seven Mile Road and Six Mile Road.
Owner Sahar Durant said she plans to invest more than $1 million in the property and hopes it will attract people looking for luxury wellness and fitness services.
According to the website, Storm Fitness is a membership-based business offering group classes, personal training, nutritional coaching, saunas, and more. Rivonia Center will also include a cafe where customers can purchase smoothies and other items to take home.
“We focus on how to fix the inside before we fix the outside,” Durant said. “That’s when real healing and recovery begins.”

Durant is asking the city to rezone the property to suit commercial needs, allowing him to expand if he wishes. The expansion would likely require the city’s own approval.
“We want to make luxury wellness more accessible to people in this area,” Durant said. “But I’m very limited, even if I can only accommodate a certain number of people. I have another half acre of land, so I might be able to accommodate another 300 to 400 people.” yeah.”
At its Tuesday, March 5th meeting, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend that the City Council approve the rezoning.
