Expansion of Child Tax Credit
Re: “Programs Helped Reduce Child Poverty — COVID-Related Tax Credits, Stimulus Payments Key,” Wednesday news story.
Last year, the expansion of monthly child tax credit payments allowed American families to get their money back on their monthly bill when they needed it most, and how families could best spend it. can now be selected. New data proves how well it worked, as reported in this story. That profit stopped not through their own fault, but through the Senate’s short-sightedness.
The new 2021 U.S. Census Supplemental Poverty Measurement Report shows that the CTC reduced child poverty by 46%. The expanded CTC has pushed the child poverty rate to the lowest level ever measured in one year.
However, 51 senators expired the CTC expansion in December. This data shows that they made a big mistake.
After the election, some politicians in Congress will try to apply tax credits to large corporations. It would be outrageous for Congress to pass tax cuts for the wealthy without expanding his CTC for low-income households.
I urge members of Congress to extend the child tax credit to all low-income households with a monthly payment option in this year’s tax code.

Culture interferes with parenting
Re: “Children’s Mental Health Care Big Victory — Child Health to Provide 100 Beds for Proposed Dallas Psychiatric Hospital,” 9 Sept. editorial.
The prospect of a new mental hospital in Dallas is great news. And the availability of 100 pediatric psychiatric beds is particularly promising. It’s not enough: authorities will have to figure out how to allocate limited resources to children in the general population, the foster care system and the juvenile system.”
The question arises: Why are so many young people crashing and burning? Is it all a random chemical imbalance? Can we blame technology/social media for everything? Consider how our culture makes it difficult to properly care for our children. I recently saw a video of a child yelling at a police officer on the sidewalk. So where do you think the problem might occur?

Corporate role in strike talks
Re: “Possible strike threatens D-FW — dozens of industries wondered if shipments would get stuck at hubs,” news story Wednesday.
It is important to recognize that both sides cannot reach an agreement when it comes to the railway situation. A strike is not something railroad workers are threatening for fun. It is the trade associations that refuse to treat their employees with dignity.
As the story explains, pay raises are guaranteed, but workers are bought with money and don’t get respect or consideration. To be able to call sick when sick, to feel safe under working conditions, these are basic human decency demands.
Whenever you feel inconvenienced by a strike, don’t yell at workers, don’t yell at governments, don’t yell at companies. They would rather stop everything than admit that workers are human beings who should be treated as such.

we are all immigrants
Our nation may have been founded on Judeo-Christian principles, but our founding fathers created laws to welcome different groups of individuals. Freedom to live an honest and honorable life while contributing to society was promised. Very hard working immigrants built this country.
My relatives and my husband’s relatives were among them. We live and prosper because of them. Why should we impose different values on people who have different views on beliefs, sexuality and customs?
In fact, we invited many people with different values to our country.I find irony in the harsh words that were spewed out last month. [toward a group of South Asian women] By a Hispanic Plano woman. Whether she knows it or not, she is also an immigrant. we all.

Book Fair: An Oasis of Truth
Two of my best days in elementary school were at the book fair. For the first time, you can choose books that you found interesting as a child without parental intervention.
The only thing parents will receive by opting their kids out of book fairs is resentment. Why are you giving a cell phone with inappropriate content?
I believe there is only one reason why people ban books. Because you are telling the truth that you don’t want others to hear. And often the most truthful books are banned.
Boston was once notorious for banning books, so authors were deliberately working to get their books published in Boston. The author thought that banning his book would lead to more publicity elsewhere.
So when is the next cremation of the Keller ISD scheduled?

remember the queen
It was a great honor to be the lead waiter during Her Majesty’s visit to Fair Park. I worked at John Dayton’s restaurant, Baby Routh, from opening to closing for over eight years. But waiting for royalty, including the King and Queen of Spain, is something I will never forget.
As an aside, I still have the cocktail napkins from Queen Elizabeth’s visit.
