Dear Editor: More than $50 million has been spent searching for the killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, and even more will be spent on the ensuing legal circus.
There were 29 murders in New York City in October. How much did it cost in total to investigate those crimes? Investigating premeditated murders by United Healthcare and other health insurance companies that decided not to pay for desperately needed life-saving medical procedures. I wonder how much money was spent?
Let’s agree that Thompson’s murder was a tragedy. Let us also recognize that health insurance companies provide no value and, all things considered, create an unnecessary, inefficient, costly, and parasitic burden on society. .
We need a single-payer health insurance program to put everyone in the country in the same risk pool and remove these dangerous thieving middlemen from the problem.
