FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WAYNE) — Lee Brothers MMA in Fort Wayne is offering one of its flagship fitness programs for free to 16 people, but those who want to be selected must earn a spot.
This program, named LBX programaims to pair participants with coaches who strive to keep participants accountable and consistent while combining fitness and nutrition.
Lee Brothers MMA has been offering training in boxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in some form since 2006, but the gym launched LBX in 2019 as a way to help people match their diet with fitness training. did.
“It’s really difficult to overcome bad eating habits through training,” said Meesh Lee, director of operations at Lee Brothers MMA. “Until we introduced this in 2019, we hadn’t done anything with nutrition. The reality is, when we talk about body changes, 80% of it is diet.”
Mike Lee, owner of Lee Brothers MMA, said perhaps the most important part of the program is having a one-on-one coach to keep participants on track.
“I could take everything we do in the LBX program and just give it to you, but if I just give it to you, you go home and you don’t see any value at all. Shh…but now if I give it to you, I’ll text you and be like, “Hey, it’s already noon, so send me a picture of what you ate.” Hey, check your weight.’ … At that point, the responsibility part of it forces you to just stick with it and get it done,” Mike said.

Mike and Miesch hope that by the time people complete the six-week challenge, they’ll have enough motivation and discipline to continue training alone in the gym.
“Anything you do in life doesn’t happen all at once in six weeks. But at the end of that six-week journey, they understood at that point what I wanted to do with this lifestyle. .What I found was that I wanted to continue this lifestyle,’ ” Mike said.
Miesch said participants may change some of what they’re doing during the challenge, but the main goal is to have them find something they enjoy doing to increase their chances of sticking with it.
“I always like to tell people that the secret to staying in tip-top shape is to find a hobby you love that keeps you in tip-top shape,” Meesch said.
The gym is currently offering the LBX program for free to 16 people, but 16 people must be selected to earn the spot, Meesch said.
“We interview everyone in person before determining whether they are a good fit for the six-week challenge,” Meesch said. “When it comes to our six-week challenge, all we’re looking for is people who can be coached, people who are ready, people who aren’t just like, ‘Oh, I guess I’ll give it a try.’ is.”
Even after being selected, participants are tracked to ensure they are progressing and working hard.
If a participant completes the challenge and follows the rules, the gym will pass on the full value of the program to the person, allowing them to continue training.
“If you want to stay here and like what we do, we’ll be happy to give you a six-week membership,” Mike said. “If you can change your life in six weeks, why stop and leave after six weeks? And we find that most people don’t do that.”
