L.A. County Public Health Warns About Traveler With Measles Visiting Local Attractions, Including Universal Studios And Santa Monica Pier

Los Angeles County health officials on Saturday issued an exposure alert regarding an unidentified traveler infected with measles who visited locations in the county from March 30 to April 1.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced that it was notified of the case by the California Department of Public Health. The non-resident traveler said that in his three days he visited nearly a dozen locations, most of which were Universal City and the Sheraton Hotel on West Century Boulevard near Los Angeles International Airport. .

Health officials said the person had visited the Universal trolley, several rides, the Sheraton gym and a local restaurant.of complete list Linked here.

Other possible exposure locations are still under investigation.

Health officials said anyone visiting an exposure site on the designated days must ensure they have been vaccinated against measles.

“Measles can spread through the air and through direct contact, causing serious illness even before people know they are infected,” Los Angeles County Health Officer Muntu Davis said in a news release. The disease is “very contagious for those who are infected,” it added. There is no immunity to that. ”

Symptoms may appear within three weeks after exposure.
