Kabata Adds $5M for AI-Powered Dumbbells

news: The smart dumbbell maker has secured $5 million in a seed round led by Menlo Ventures with participation from a number of athlete-investors, including NFL player Bradley Chubb.

The company raised $2 million two years ago and is preparing to ship its first units this fall.

Things to note: Kamata dumbbells support velocity-based training (VBT) using built-in sensors to measure repetitions, time under tension, power, and calories.

The AI-driven software develops a training program based on your abilities and automatically adjusts weight while adapting exercises based on the quality of your form.
