According to police, on the morning of June 19, Rawls was shot while holding a sharp object and then tasted. It is said that he made his way to the police. Rawls says he experienced an out-of-body experience while paramedics worked to save his life.
“I remember being on the ground … and the ambulance picked me up just like the police came. That’s what I remember,” Rawls said.
Regina Mobley: We often see it in the news people shot by police and did not survive. How does watching these stories affect you?
