Singer-songwriter Jewel gets candid in new interview people A magazine in which she discussed mental health.
The 48-year-old Intuition hitmaker said he barely signed a record deal at age 15 because he wanted to avoid “breaking down.”
The mother of one told the publication, “In this job you lose more people to poisoning, overdoses, suicides and mental breakdowns. I didn’t want to be a statistic.”

Elaborating on her thinking, she said: [of my house] At 15, it was all about learning a new emotional language.
As a precocious teenager, she said, “As much as I have a genetic inheritance that can predispose me to diabetes and heart disease, I have an emotional inheritance that makes me susceptible to cycles of addiction and abuse.” I knew it was possible.’
The music artist left home as a teenager and became homeless, living in his car when he was found.
“Funnily enough, I was about to sign a record deal when I was discovered, so if you take someone with my emotional background, you know God forbid. So I knew I was going to be famous…” she explained.

As a compromise, the bright young woman said she had reached a personal agreement with herself.
“I promised myself that my first job would be to sign that contract as long as I continued to learn how to be a happy and complete human being,” she told the outlet.
As a result, at the peak of her music career, she took a break because she needed “time to psychologically adjust to the level of fame.”
And she’s spent the last seven years devoting herself to her role as the mother of 11-year-old son Kace, whom she shares with ex-husband Ty Murray.
In a seated chat, she posed a question.
“What’s the point of fame? If you’re not happy and you don’t like yourself, what’s the point of being nice?”
The blonde superstar has taken action and launched a campaign to combat mental health challenges. Inspiring Children Foundationshe has been participating for almost 20 years.
On Friday, she took to Instagram to reflect on the recent suicide of former Ellen Show DJ and dancer tWitch, writing, “This is exactly why we started the #NotAloneChallenge.
“People who smile can also suffer and raising awareness is not enough. We need to provide a range of comprehensive tools. [it’s] When it comes to mental health, one size fits all.
She started the clip by standing in front of the Christmas tree and stating, “I was so sad to hear the news of Stephen Boss’ passing.”

In an interview with People, Jewel said:

An album called Freewheelin’ Woman, the star’s latest musical endeavor, is available now.
“When I finally felt like it was time to make this album, I wanted it to be a reflection of who I am now at 48,” she told the magazine.
“And it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It was the first time I had to write an album from scratch, and it was devastating.
