Minnesotan prescription insulin does not pay more than $ 35 per month after the litigation against the three major drug manufacturers.

Keath Ellison, Chief of Justice, Minnesota, announced on Monday a reconciliation with manufacturer Novo Nordisk. All insulin products of the company are concluded for both the prescription insured and the non -insurance customers.

In February last year, Ellison announced the settlement of Eri Lily’s upper limit and $ 35 per month. He settled with Sanofi in July. The reconciliation with NOVO NORDISK has concluded a lawsuit. He said that three companies offer most insulin products in the market.

“I can’t lose another one at the ruthless cost, which was demanded by drugs to save these lives,” said Ellison.

The Justice Office has complained of three major insulin makers in 2018 and argued that drug prices are artificially expanding. Before reconciliation, Ellison says that diabetic patients paid $ 800 per month on insulin.

A supporter of insulin prices celebrated this news. Nicole Smith Holt has talked about the cost of seven years since his son, Alec Smith, died when he couldn’t afford to buy insulin.

Minnesota’s Justice Corporation Keath Ellison announced on February 7, 2024 with drug manufacturer Eli Lilly, and set the cost of insulin to $ 35 per month in Minnesotan. Nicole Smith Holt has joined Ellison.

Smith was charged more than $ 1,000 a month on insulin. He, 26, stopped using his mother’s health insurance. He began distribution of insulin and died in Ketoacidosis in early 2017.

“There is a long list of people who have died in complications and distribution,” said Smith Holt. “We have been on a long road with Minnesota.”

QUINNN NYSTROM, a other affordable insulin defender, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a child.

“Insulin is not an optional medicine. It is our life maintenance,” said Nistrom. “If there is no insulin, I will die.”

Novo Nordisk manufactures insulin products such as Novolog, Tresiba, Fiasp, and Novolin.

NOVO NORDISK also provides free insulin to a qualified patient below a specific income level. Sanofi has a similar program according to reconciliation. Eli Lily offers free insulin to some clinics in the state.

The reconciliation lasts for 5 years. Ellison said that the members of the Diet came up with a permanent solution and purchased the members’ time to prevent prices from rising again.

“I’m convinced of these five years prove that insulin is not expensive, and the price of $ 1,100 is completely unfair,” Erison said.
