Indiana Senate Democrats said their 2025 legislative agenda focuses on supporting Hoosier families and ensuring opportunities for children.
The caucus’ priority bills target health care, housing and public education.
Senate Democratic Leader Shelley Yoder (D-Bloomington) said ignoring these important issues puts Indiana’s future at risk.
“These are not partisan issues,” Yoder said. “They are Hoosier values.”
The caucus bill includes support. Mother and child health managementbans wage garnishments and property liens for medical debts, allows tenants to withhold rent if landlords don’t make necessary repairs, and significantly increases K-12 public education funding. .

Sen. Andrea Hanley (D-Indianapolis) said these issues are not only moral priorities, but also economic imperatives.
“Quality schools can attract businesses, create a skilled workforce and keep young families in our state,” Hanley said.
Similarly, Sen. Rodney Paul Jr. (D-Chesterton) said: Improving housing stability It not only affects where people live.
“Housing stability is linked to other important aspects of life, such as education, health and economic security,” Pol said.
The caucus’ housing measure also includes a provision banning utility disconnections on Fridays, weekends and holidays. Eliminate interest on unpaid utility bills and reconnection fees. and requires landlords to give tenants at least 60 days’ notice before selling the property.
