Grandma, who weighed 185 pounds, revealed how she lost fat and became a bodybuilder at age 65.
Susan Guidi, from Tampa, Florida, kicked off her weight loss in December 2020 by giving up wine and her favorite Thai food.
The five-year-old grandma weighs only 129 pounds, works out five times a week, and won a bodybuilding competition in October.
Giddy wants to be a role model for women over 50, as her slimmer physique gives her the confidence to wear a bikini.
“Society expects women over the age of 50 to settle down and become grandmothers.
“I’ve always been someone’s wife, mother, and grandmother, so I wanted to do something for myself.
“I, like most women my age, have tried every diet in the sun, but I was never happy with my body.
“I wanted my insides to match my appearance. I was a typical menopausal woman. I had fat around my stomach, drank too much wine, ate too much, and didn’t sleep well. .
“One day, I was scrolling through social media for women over 60 who have done amazing things, and I came across Joan MacDonald, who was 74 at the time and looked incredible.
“I thought if she could do it in her 70s, she couldn’t make excuses in her 60s.
“So I signed up for the Transformation Program in December 2020 and never looked back.
“Nine months after I started setting goals for myself, I booked a professional photo shoot. After achieving this, I decided that I wanted to enter a bodybuilding competition.”
Susan has hired a coach to help her prepare for her October 2020 show.
It took her 20 weeks of preparation before she was ready for the stage, exercising up to three and a half hours a day while preparing for the show.
Susan says: I couldn’t believe I did it.
It felt incredible. I was leading a group of women younger than me on stage, and as soon as I turned on the lights, the crowd started pumping.
“I felt like I was made for that stage.
“I’m on fire right now and looking forward to what I can do when I’m 80.
“I feel like women don’t have enough examples of women like me and don’t deserve to feel this way, but I want to show that age doesn’t matter.
“I’m 65 and this is how I look. There was a time when I didn’t want to tell anyone my age, but now I’m so proud that I display my age everywhere.
“You may have sagging skin and wrinkles, but you are also healthy and the best way to age powerfully is to train your muscles.
“I used to love good wine and Thai food, but it just didn’t work for me. I now lift weights five times a week and do cardio four times a week, and I’m competing again this year at age 66. I can’t wait to be there.
“I am healthier than ever and can run and play with my five grandchildren.
“I am doing this for them too, because I wanted to set an example for them and leave a legacy.”
