Fruchey was absent from Instagram, where he was usually active, for six weeks, suggesting he may have been suffering from health problems prior to his death.
According to Douglas Flucchey’s close friend Brad Rowe, Flucchey was found dead in his apartment on June 14, 2024. The discovery of his death was particularly shocking given the circumstances surrounding his previous disappearance. Rowe acknowledged that Flucchey had been dealing with personal issues, noting that he faced internal conflicts despite his outward success. Rowe highlighted the importance of addressing men’s mental health and shed light on the hardships Flucchey had endured.
“Doug was a customer, colleague and friend for nearly a decade. He was a caring and humble man, always seeking knowledge, always willing to share it when he could, and always genuinely interested in how you were doing. Men, you are not alone. You are not a burden. You are enough. You are loved ❤️,” Lowe said.

He replaced his drug addiction with something positive: bodybuilding. Although steroids are addictive, he felt it was a better addiction than the drugs he had used before.
Fruchey competed as an amateur bodybuilder for four years before getting his breakout at the 2020 NPC Worldwide Amateur Olympia Orlando, where he earned his IFBB pro card and solidified his status as a top athlete in the bodybuilding world.
Par NPC News OnlineFruchey competed in five professional events, placing ninth at the New York Pro and Boston Pro in 2022. He sat out the 2024 competitive season.
