Identical twins went on separate vegan and meat diets to see what it would do to their bodies – Life

Two explorers set out to discover whether two different diets could have a significant effect on the human body. The results may be surprising.

Of course, there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to diet.

Harvard experts tell us you should eat whole grains, vegetables and fruits, protein, and healthy vegetable oils.

However, many people choose to embark on harsh diets, such as Keto or Paleo, or participate in intermittent fasting, in order to reap the health benefits.

But do eating certain foods really change your body? Well, that’s what identical twins Hugo and Ross Turner wanted to know.

The pair, who share the same genetic material, wanted to see if diet caused changes in their bodies over 12 weeks.

Working with King’s College in London, Hugo pledged to follow a strictly vegan diet during the experiment, while Ross stuck to a diet that included meat, dairy and fish.

Before getting stuck, the Turner twins were told that they had to eat the exact same amount of calories and do the same amount of exercise every day. So the only variable is diet.

in interview Hugo told the BBC that his vegan diet had caused “damage” to his body.

“I think for the first few weeks I was really craving meat, dairy and cheese. I love cheese,” he admitted.

However, he said he later understood the benefits of giving up animal products.

“I now have to eat fruits and nuts and dairy-free alternatives, which means I eat healthier foods, which means my blood sugar levels drop significantly during sleep. I was full ‘day. I felt like I had more energy. ”

Meanwhile, Hugo’s carnivorous twin said his performance in the gym is “a little more up and down.”

There were days when he felt “very energetic” and other days when he experienced “a huge plateau.”

However, Hugo believed that veganism had some downsides. He found that his younger brother’s gut bacterial diversity had not changed, whereas his gut bacterial diversity had decreased “significantly.” This means Ross is less likely to get sick.

Overall, the men found there was no “significant difference, if any,” between the two diets.

But Hugo saw his cholesterol levels drop “off the scale” while losing weight and increasing his resistance to type 2 diabetes.

Ross also noticed how much processed food she was eating after checking out her brother’s healthy vegan diet.

Veganism also proved to be more effective at reducing body fat, with Hugo losing 4 pounds and reducing his body fat by 1%.

By comparison, Ross gained 10 pounds of muscle, but he also gained fat, increasing his final body fat percentage from 13 percent to 15 percent.
