I have written about cannabidiol (CBD) before. In that respect A new role in professional surfing. However, I had never taken CBD consistently and recorded results. To enhance my quest to explore whether CBD can help surf, I had to become patient and make CBD a part of my daily routine, like my morning cup of dark roast.

Lazarus Naturals Portland, Oregon sent me three products to try: Full Spectrum “Relief and Restore” CBD Balm Stick, Full Spectrum CBD Softgels, and Full Spectrum CBD Tincture. Their recommendation for product use was to use CBD for relaxation, focus, and sleep after an activity (surfing).

To put it lightly, I was skeptical, despite all the opinions. pro surfer I incorporate CBD into my daily health regimen. meanwhile, Studying in 2021 The National Library of Medicine concludes that the use of CBD by athletes to improve recovery and reduce fatigue is “promising.” The evidence is inconclusive, and there’s just an overall lack of data on CBD’s effectiveness, even though it’s being touted as a wonder drug in coffee shops, gas stations, and coffee shops across the country.

The last thing to note is that CBD dosage. According to available research, different dosage levels are used for different CBD treatments. In some clinical studies, Various oral doses 100 milligrams to 800 milligrams, but a new sweet spot for anxiety and sleep appears to be near. 25-75 milligrams; 100-800 mg is recommended for severe anxiety. As with anything else, dosage will vary depending on body weight, tolerance, and whether the individual is using existing medications or supplements. For the past month, my dosage has been one 50mg softgel every morning, followed by a tincture of about 50-100mg before bed.

I’m not a doctor, and I don’t pretend to be one on Instagram. Additionally, I only used the product continuously for a month and only took notes sporadically. I am not saying that one person’s experience should be used in place of vetted research, but I would like to use my experience, albeit to a limited extent, to shed a little more light on this subject. I would like to.

In any case, here’s what I noticed:

Focus underwater and beyond

I have mild anxiety that developed into very rare panic attacks. One of them occurred in front of my senior year college class during one of the busiest months of my life. Usually I do a hard workout in the morning (usually running or surfing) or he has a glass or two of wine in the evening, which can help him feel a little calmer.

Surprisingly, I found that taking CBD in the morning reduced my overall anxiety throughout the day. There was no dramatic sensation and it probably took a few days to sink into my body in coffee, tacos, and coffee. sometimes corona. However, the slight mellowing sensation is most noticeable when working. This will keep your mind from cluttering and make it easier to concentrate on things like reading, writing, and editing.

I always go into the sea in the morning, so I noticed that this feeling carried over to surfing as well. CBD helps me relax a bit so I can fully enjoy my surf session, feeling lighter and able to focus on the waves instead of being distracted by real-world worries. I’ve been wondering why I’ve been feeling a little lighter overall and a little more optimistic lately, and I think he’s at least partially due to the CBD, even though I haven’t changed anything else. I am. In fact, when I stopped taking it for a day as an experiment, I noticed that the sensation had diminished.

I also experienced the effects of CBD when driving on an unfamiliar mountain road in a rented car. Usually, when I’m walking down a rough road and at some point a group of motorcyclists starts following me, I get nervous. There were no such problems. I hope that next time the waves are bigger than my comfort level, I’ll feel more at ease.

Muscle recovery:

I have serious injuries like the guy who irresponsibly threw himself off a kicker at a snowboard park in his 20s and only half-made it. I had tendinitis in my shoulders, persistent neck tension, a bulging disc in my back, and even shin splints to compensate for tight hips and hamstrings from my soccer career. Surfing isn’t completely pain-free for me, but I’m lucky enough to be able to surf almost every day, and I have a lot of friends who are in much worse situations with injuries.

In terms of pain medication, I find that I don’t take as much Advil when I’m surfing. If you get tired from the waves, you might take Advil before or after your session, or both. Yes, I’m that old. It’s also possible that the slight mental boost is associated with a feeling of being more mobile because everything in your body is connected.

Remedies after surfing:

I have tried many things to treat my neck pain due to an old injury that was aggravated by surfing. Icy Hot, Biofreeze, Heat, Ice, Stretch. Applying a generous amount of CBD balm after surfing can provide a great deal of relief. It may be partly menthol and capsaicin. Chili pepper extract has analgesic properties. Still, some of them strongest available The evidence for CBD’s effectiveness is based on topical use. I also used the balm on my shoulders, which suffer from musculotendinitis and suffer from occasional popping. Overall, I noticed a significant reduction in my worn out muscles.

Good night’s sleep:

Most of the nights I’ve used this, I seem to fall asleep faster thanks to the tincture (which seems to be more potent than the softgels). I’m used to waking up at 4 a.m. with a to-do list and future concerns running through my head. Of course, not sleeping well makes everything in life much more difficult, including surfing. If you don’t sleep well, you’ll struggle to make it to dawn patrol in time, and you’ll feel groggy and sluggish when you’re outside. So, indirectly, CBD tinctures help me wake up better in the morning and help me surf. However, I would like to add that it is not a foolproof prescription for me as I still have some nights where I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep even after taking the tincture. However, I have had enough success that I will continue to investigate whether CBD, or other combinations of CBD and CBDV, can alleviate the burden of melatonin and other sleep aids that I have been using.

overall reaction

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with last month’s notes, even if it wasn’t a 100% conversion. I understand that this could be a placebo effect, but if I feel a little bit better, does it matter where that feeling came from? CBD helped reduce my anxiety a little bit, and Advil If it helps me reduce my painkiller use and improve my sleep, it may be worth continuing to use CBD for my overall health and surfing goals as well.

However, while Lazarus Naturals keeps its prices lower than many of its competitors and offers discounts and assistance programs for those who qualify, taking CBD consistently is still an investment. there is no. If you’re on a budget like I am, you’ll need to weigh the benefits against the financial burden.

I plan to continue using CBD for a few more months and see how I feel then. We hope this helps you make educated decisions about CBD, surfing, and health.
