When he wanted to shed his skin, he turned towards the sled.

An obese tech entrepreneur who was taken to hospital for heart palpitations says a weighted sled helped him lose nearly half his weight in two years.

“Until one day I was rushed to the hospital emergency room, I kept thinking, “Someday I’ll lose weight, someday I’ll be healthy.” That moment, as I lay in the hospital bed, I decided to take charge of my health. I remember it clearly,” said Dhruv Agarwala, 53. He told the South China Morning Post. this week.

Agarwala reached her highest weight of 334 pounds in February 2021, but eight months later, she suffered a heart attack while on a business trip to India.

By February 2023, the Singapore-based CEO had lost about 157 pounds and dropped four T-shirt sizes from 3XL to medium.

“I have stopped all medications by November 2021. My cholesterol and blood pressure levels are now normal, I am off the sleep apnea machine, and I am not pre-diabetic,” said Agarwala, who is based in Hong Kong. He told a newspaper.

Agarwala, who holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and is co-founder and CEO of real estate technology platform REA India, initially set a goal to lose 110 pounds.

He drew inspiration from the physique of former tennis pro Roger Federer, 42, who weighs 187 pounds. According to tour statistics.

“I was so used to eating unhealthy food that it was hard to give up. I’ve tried the Atkins diet, the South Beach diet, and intermittent fasting in the past, but it just wasn’t sustainable.” I did it,” Agarwala told the South China Morning Post.

“‘Aha!’ That moment for me was when I realized I could eat whatever I wanted if I controlled my portions,” he added.

The Indian native says he consumes at least 120 grams of protein with every meal, and his menu is topped with cooked vegetables, grilled chicken and fish.

His transformation has increased his energy levels, allowing him to work even harder at the gym.

The palpitations that had sent him to the hospital were gone, and it turned out to be heartburn.

“That was the wake-up call I needed,” Agarwala confessed.
