I’m not under the illusion that I’m a dancer or a boxer, but after spending hours dancing and boxing, FitXR (opens in new tab) After testing it with my Meta Quest 2 headset, I can see why this app is a favorite among fans of the best VR workout apps and games.
After recently exploring Meta Quest 2’s most popular fitness game and Meta Quest 2’s Liteboxer VR, my craving for a VR workout grew. I’m still skeptical of people branding FitXR as “the most intense VR workout”. VR fitness is still in its early stages and does not intend to completely replace your current exercise regimen.
But while we’re not convinced that fitness apps (and other apps of their kind) are visually and physically perfect, they still offer a variety of at-home workouts to keep you entertained. There’s a lot to keep going. Is VR fitness the ‘future of fitness’? I think there’s room for improvement, but that doesn’t mean it’s not incredibly fun. Here are the results when testing the FitXR workout app on Meta Quest 2.
FitXR combines box, combat, sculpting, HIIT, and dance into one app, with fairly generic music and basic visuals as its backbone. FitXR provides access to hundreds of workouts and multiplayer voice chat across five studios, alongside partner smartphone apps for tracking progress.
Get access to a 7-day free trial. For $9.99/month, you can subscribe to one of his best VR headsets, Meta Quest 2 (read our Meta Quest 2 review here). You can learn boxing, dancing and more without any previous skills or experience. The app has earned his 4-star rating on the Meta Quest store, with users praising the product’s versatility and perceived results.
I tried the FitXR VR fitness app Pace. Here’s what happened.
1. VR headsets were scattered everywhere
It was easy to keep the headset in place while boxing. But during a HIIT or dance workout that requires more physical exertion, it’s been a nightmare. is more exhausting than the workout itself, and it’s hard to find flow with the constant stop/start.
This isn’t an app complaint, but until more VR headsets are developed, these apps may struggle to reach their full potential, forcing them to reduce their range of exercises. I have.
Ok – the benefits of accessing VR fitness workouts at home far outweigh the dodgy headsets, but for those who just love doing burpees for better fitness, some Lack of content and may be safe.

According to one calorie calculator (opens in new tab), you can expect to burn between 300 and 800 calories in an hour of dancing, depending on factors such as weight and intensity. For example, a 200-pound person may burn over 400 calories after an hour of tapping her dance, compared to her 700 calories during an aerobics dance class. And people with less weight would expect less burning.
I don’t think I’ve ever burned anything close to it, but I still felt my whole body moving throughout the dance class. Could have spent hours.Obed. These classes are when you are most likely to burn calories and build overall strength and fitness.
Boxing classes are structured so that you have to punch enough to count towards your streak, and you can also practice ducking. It was certainly a lot more tiring than any other VR boxing he class I’ve tried so far. I liked having the target fly towards you because it makes the class much more immersive and expansive than just hitting the pads with the instructor, reminding me of the VR meditation app Tripp. It employs the same immersive technique to relax (but without the punch).
3. Needed Pilates and Barre
These classes are designed to build strength and burn your whole body with low-impact and high-burn workouts, but what diversifies this app from its competitors is the Barre and Pilates-inspired was required.
The ballet-inspired classes are challenging, and you can add the best ankle weights and adjustable dumbbells to increase your intensity. Class potential was completely lost. Did.
4. Calm down after that
We know that exercise has a positive impact on mental health, improves anxiety, and reduces stress levels. But I dug into boxing, dance, and mental health. study (opens in new tab)Evidence shows that non-contact boxing can “catalyze the release of anger and stress” and improve mood, confidence, focus, strength and coordination.
moreover, better help (opens in new tab)recommends dance therapy to help people become more physical and improve their relationship with their ‘self’. Moving to music improves mood, coordination and cognition and helps people connect with their bodies and others.
Unfortunately, I think FitXR’s current dance routines are limited. I suspect my routine is (again) limited by my bulky headset, but I felt more calm and energized by moving my body between long stints at my desk.
FitXR is a great concept unfortunately limited by the current design of Meta Quest 2, but some of the workouts were fun and challenging. I’ve found it to be a much more competitive home workout solution for those looking to get a fit workout.
