The U.S. Department of Labor said Wednesday that 62 McDonald’s locations were found to be in violation of federal labor laws.
More than 300 children were found working in restaurants in multiple states, including 45 of Kentucky’s 62 McDonald’s restaurants.

Bauer Food LLC responded that the 10-year-olds were the children of the night shift manager and had only visited their parents at work, even though they were not approved by the management of the franchise organization.
A Department of Labor investigation found that McDonald’s locations in Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland and Ohio employed at least 305 children in violation of federal labor laws. Three franchisees, Bauer Food LLC, Archways Richwood LLC, and Bell Restaurant Group I LLC, own and operate the 62 locations where violations have been found.
Three franchises are currently facing civil fines totaling an estimated total of over $212,000.
