BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – New resources are now available to anyone facing mental health issues in the Queen City.
Officials cut the ribbon for a new mental health urgent care on South Prospect Street in Burlington. The goal is to provide immediate support and services to people 18 and older in crisis while providing an alternative to the emergency room. The center is available to anyone seeking mental health medical care, peer support, and medication assistance, as well as a number of other same-day psychological services.
The program is a collaboration between the Howard Center, Community Health Center of Burlington, Pathways Vermont, and UVM Medical Center, and will be fully funded for the next three years, with all services provided free to the community.
“Our long-term goal is to give at-risk Vermonters another option,” said UVMMC’s Stephen Loeffler.
The center will not officially open for another week.
