Confidence: It is a powerful force that inspires people to do great things until people with confidence face another powerful force: reality.
This was the experience of a Texas Roadhouse customer who claimed he was going to beat 100 Famous Rolls until he learned something important from the server.
A video recording of this interaction comes from creator Eric Thurston (@ericthurstonforreal). It has been viewed more than 1.1 million times since it was posted on Thursday. It’s only 10 seconds long, but sometimes it only takes 10 seconds to tell a complete story.
It begins with a customer sitting next to another customer at a Texas Roadhouse booth saying, “I thought I could roll down at least 100.”
The server responds with: Want to know the fun part? ”
Customers say they do.
“Each roll has 200 calories,” the clerk reveals.
Hearing this, the two companions at the table opened their mouths wide in shock.
Sadly, the video ends before we learn how many rolls they actually consumed.

Is it really 200 calories per piece?
The good news for calorie counters going to Texas Roadhouse is that the website includes a nearly complete calorie count. nutritional information display, Including the calories in the menu.
Unfortunately, the rolls are not included on the rest of the full menu. That means the cactus flowers alone contain 2,250 calories, and a whole killer fall-off-the-bone rib packs 1,450 calories into one main dish.
There are several websites that claim to know the calories in bread rolls, and both have Texas Roadhouse in their names.
of TexasRoadhouseMenu.net site Each roll has 227 calories and claims to give you a complete breakdown of carbohydrates and protein. They also claim that adding Texas Roadhouse’s cinnamon honey butter brings the number of calories per roll to 347.
of Texas Roadhouse Family Meal website This article contains a recipe for those who want to recreate the rolls at home, but there are contradictions in the article. In one section, one roll has “approximately 125 calories.” The graph just below it says 225. A little later in the article it will be “180-200 calories”. This site provides a range of values that at most are 200 calories.
Commenters did not reach a certain number, but provided some perspective.
“Without butter, it’s 130 yen per roll,” declared the commenter. “200 with butter”
After hearing this, another person started joking, “No matter how much butter you put in it, it’ll cost you 500 yen.”
But another commenter claimed inside knowledge: “Wrong, I work at txrh and by that 200 day [itself]”
Another employee had a story that seemed to show evidence that the Texas Roadhouse Roll Challenge has been doing the rounds online in recent years. “One time we carried about 36 bread baskets off a party table, and I counted them,” they said.
Upon hearing that, Thurston said, “That’s literally insane.”
Several commenters took issue with the adage that “knowledge is power.” Simply put, “Brother, I wasn’t supposed to know this.”
The Daily Dot reached out to Thurston via comment on TikTok and to Texas Roadhouse via email.
